About BONCHA
BONCHA is an experiential space where a gallery and a tea room come together. We reinterpret the aesthetics of the traditional Japanese tea culture, chanoyu, through a modern sensibility.
Guests first select their preferred tea bowl from the gallery. Matcha is then prepared in that bowl and enjoyed through aroma, flavor, texture, and the quiet space around you— offering a calm, enriching moment away from everyday life.
The name BONCHA embodies our philosophy and worldview.
“Bon” is derived from Brahman, the fundamental principle of the universe in Buddhist and Hindu philosophy. It represents spiritual purification, harmony, and tranquility. Our wish is for BONCHA to be a place where one can step away from the noise of everyday life and find a clear, calm mind.
“Cha” (tea) has long been a medium that connects people with one another and with nature, and is also a symbol of healing. Rooted in Japanese culture, the values of harmony with nature and mindful, intentional movement form the core of the BONCHA experience.

As a Platform Connected to Culture
BONCHA is not simply a tea space. We collaborate with Japanese artists, artisans, and creators, exhibiting and offering their works, while sharing Japanese aesthetics and spirituality with the world through tea.
We also plan to regularly host tea gatherings, exhibitions, and lectures with guests from Japan and abroad. With tea as the starting point, BONCHA aims to be a platform where cultures meet and sensibilities connect — a place that nurtures the art of being present.

Many of the tea bowls, tea utensils, and artworks that shape the BONCHA space are available for purchase in-store.
